The Globe and Mail is Canada’s source for trusted journalism, providing eye-opening investigations and thought-provoking opinions from the country’s most award-winning newsroom. Joining us on our journey will be The Globe’s intrepid team, CEO, Andrew Saunders and Editor-in-Chief, David Walmsley, who will take on hosting duties. Cookbook author and Globe food contributor, Tara O’Brady will ensure we’re well fed and well imbibed along the way. They will be joined by reporters and columnist including Robert Fife, Angela Pacienza, Kelly Grant and Andrew Coyne, who will each host forums and tours. 

Together, they will give you a behind-the-scenes look at some of The Globe’s headline stories and their views on some of the world’s most pressing issues facing Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany today.

Andrew Saunders

President and CEO

Andrew Saunders is the President and CEO of The Globe and Mail, overseeing all aspects of Canada's national newspaper, its business magazine, digital advertising network, digital platforms and events and conference lines of business. With over 20 years of experience at The Globe, he brings expertise in revenue generation and management, business transformation, change management and digitization, data analytics & consumer insights,  technology implementation, branding and performance marketing, pricing optimization and more.

In his previous role as Chief Revenue Officer at The Globe, Andrew was responsible for shaping the monetization strategy and driving the business transition from print to digital across all facets of the business, including subscription revenue, licensing, advertising sales, events and conference business, data engineering & analytics, digital media/UX and consumer marketing.

In his capacity as President and CEO, Andrew Saunders is dedicated to maintaining The Globe and Mail’s journalistic excellence and steering it towards innovation in the ever-evolving media landscape.

David Walmsley

Editor-in-Chief

David Walmsley was appointed the editor-in-chief of The Globe and Mail in March 2014. His appointment returned him to The Globe where he previously worked as the Managing Editor and National Editor. Under his editorship, The Globe and Mail has won the Michener Award, National Newspaper Awards, top honours among an international field at the global Online Journalism Awards, and a series of Eppy awards recognizing digital excellence. 

David previously held senior positions at the CBC in Toronto and Ottawa, Toronto Star and National Post. He began his career at The Belfast Telegraph where he was named Northern Ireland Young Journalist of the Year in 1995. He also worked for The Daily Record in Scotland and The Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph in London.

Tara O’Brady

Food Writer

Tara is a food writer and award-winning cookbook author, both individually and in collaboration. She is a contributor to Chatelaine magazine, King Arthur Baking, and The Globe and Mail, as well as culinary host of the travel program.  

Her work has appeared in The Guardian, Bon Appetit, the Washington Post, Kinfolk, Epicurious, The Splendid Table, and others. A panelist for Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants program, she also served as the head writer for 2024. Tara’s television credits include Food Network’s Wall of Bakers and Iron Chef Canada. She was host of a Hamilton-based documentary series for the Bell Fibe Network, and cultural consultant to the series Run the Burbs, which aired on CBC, The CW and Hulu. 

Robert Fife

Ottawa Bureau Chief

Robert Fife is The Globe and Mail's Ottawa Bureau Chief and the host of CTV's "Question Period with The Globe and Mail's Robert Fife." He uncovered the Senate expense scandal, setting the course for an RCMP investigation, audits and reform of Senate expense rules. In 2012, he exposed the E. coli contamination of some XL Foods products, forcing the company to recall 1500 tainted meat products. Covering national politics since 1978, he began his career in the parliamentary bureau of NewsRadio and later United Press International (Canada). He worked as a senior political reporter for Canadian Press and spent a decade as Ottawa Bureau Chief and Political Columnist for the Sun Media chain, and had the same post for the National Post and CanWest News Service. He was with CTV from 2005 to 2015. Mr. Fife, who has won many awards for his journalism, is also the author of several books: A Capital Scandal: Politics, Patronage and Payoff; Why Parliament Must Be Reformed; and Kim Campbell: The Making of a Politician.

Angela Pacienza

Executive Editor

Angela Pacienza is the Executive Editor at The Globe and Mail. Part of the senior leadership team, Angela’s duties include setting the editorial direction and content strategy for culture and life, including health, social trends, arts, and personal well-being. With a career spanning over two decades in journalism, Angela has earned a reputation as a thoughtful and dynamic leader in the media industry, contributing to the ongoing evolution of what it means to be audience-first in the digital age. She currently sits on the board of directors for the Canadian Journalism Foundation and the Online News Association, and she’s a mentor with Digital Women Leaders.

Kelly Grant

Health Reporter

Kelly Grant's career in journalism began in high school, when she worked as a night and weekend tape editor at her local television station in London, Ontario. She's been hooked on reporting ever since. After earning a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Kelly worked as a cop reporter and editorial writer at the Windsor Star and as a general assignment writer and Toronto city hall reporter at The National Post. She joined The Globe and Mail in 2008. Kelly has held a variety of posts at The Globe, including Toronto editor and Toronto City Hall bureau chief.  She is now a national health reporter with a special interest in primary care, chronic diseases, including cancer, brain health, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity, and pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical policy.

Eric Reguly

European Bureau Chief

The Globe’s expert on all things Europe, Eric Reguly headed to the other side of the Atlantic in 2007. There, he has covered economic and financial stories, including the euro zone crisis, the bank bailouts, and the rise and fall of Russia's oligarchs. He also covered the Arab Spring in Tunisia, the Greek Anti-Austerity riots, the London and Sochi Olympics, Pope Francis’s tour of Canada in 2022, several climate summits , the European pandemic and, recently, the Ukraine War.

He is a regular guest on Canadian and American radio and makes speeches about business and climate issues. Eric in 2007 won the Hyman Solomon Award for Excellence in Public Policy Journalism. He was co-winner in 2010 of a National Newspaper Award. In 2010, he won gold in the National Magazine Awards. He won gold in Canada for commentary from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) in 2015 and 2020.

Andrew Coyne

Opinion Columnist

Andrew Coyne is a columnist for The Globe and Mail. Raised in Winnipeg, Mr. Coyne is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the London School of Economics‎. He has worked previously for The National Post, Maclean’s and Southam News, contributing as well to a wide range of other publications in Canada and abroad, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Review, and The Walrus. He is also a weekly panelist on CBC’s The National.
