Arrive in the colourful city of Lisbon where your journey begins. Settle into your room at the elegant Hotel Tivoli Avenida Liberdade in the heart of the city. To kick off our trip, enjoy a celebratory welcome reception hosted by our Globe President & CEO Andrew Saunders and our Editor-in-Chief David Walmsley and his team of Globe journalists, and meet your fellow guests. This evening enjoy dinner on your own at one of the nearby charming restaurants or make it an early night and dine at on of the hotel’s in-house restaurants.

Begin your day with a Globe Insider Breakfast with Globe’s Editor-in-Chief, David Walmsley and Globe Senior Business Writer and Columnist, Rita Trichur as they discuss the daily newspaper headlines, followed by a Globe Journalist Talk by Rita Trichur. This afternoon, explore Lisbon on one of three excursions; a tour of the Belém district with its iconic Tower and Jerónimos Monastery; a tour of the spectacular Palace of Queluz and its glorious garden; a walking tour of the bohemian Alfama district; a visit to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Art Gallery with its modern gardens; a private tram ride with live Fado Performance; a tour of Sintra with a visit of the Palácio da Pena and finally a visit to Colares for a wine tour and tasting. Tonight, have dinner on your own at our hotel or explore Lisbon’s culinary offerings.

Tonight, have dinner on your own at our hotel or explore Funchal’s gastronomic delights.

This afternoon is your opportunity to explore Madeira on one of four curated excursions; a tour of Monte Palace gardens; a wine tasting at a Quinta producing on the island’s volcanic terroir; a guided walking tour of Funchal’s Old Town with stops at the Cathedral, market, and a local coffee stop and finally a slightly more active option with an easy hike on the Levada da Serra do Faial. Join Globe journalists for a private group dinner this evening at our hotel.

Today is your second opportunity to explore the island on one of four curated excursions; a moderate guided hike on Ponta de Sao Lourenco enjoying the natural beauty of Madeira, a whale- and dolphin-watching boat excursion with a marine biologist, a wine tasting at a Quinta producing on the island’s volcanic terroir or finally explore the island in a Jeep Land Rover with a stop in a local bar for a refreshing special Madeiran drink. This evening you have another chance to explore Funchal on your own for dinner.

This morning we host our final Globe Insider Breakfast with Globe’s Editor-in-Chief, David Walmsley and Cathal Kelly as they discuss the daily newspaper headlines. Later, set off on your excursion with anoher opportunity to choose from the following four tours; a guided walking tour of Funchal’s Old Town with stops at the Cathedral, market, and a local coffee stop, an aasy hike to the Levada da Serra do Faial, explore the island in a Jeep Land Rover with a stop in a local bar for a refreshing special Madeiran drink or enjoy a wine tour and tasting at Madeira’s historic Blandy’s winery in the heart of Funchal. This evening we gather for our farewell dinner at the historic Blandy’s Wine Lodge.
